Fall fun activities planned for Oct. 28

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico Farm & Ranch Heritage Museum is the place to be on Oct. 28 for some fun to celebrate the fall season.

The museum’s Heritage Cooking program kicks things off from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. with Day of the Dead bread baking. We will be baking this festive, celebratory dessert bread in an 1890s vintage wood-burning cook stove. Visitors of all ages are welcome to join in the making of these classic loaves, which they can take home and share with friends and family.

Complimentary copies of the traditional recipes also will be available, and supplies are furnished by the museum. To participate in this program, regular paid museum admission is required ($5 for adults, $4 for senior citizens, $3 for children 4-17).

Also on Oct. 28, the museum’s weekly Crafts for Kids activity is set for 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Co-sponsored by Kohl’s of Las Cruces, children are invited to come carve their own pumpkin. There will be a limited supply. Regular museum admission is required for all family members: $5 for adults, $4 for senior citizens, $3 for children 4 to 17, and free admission for children 3 and under.
