Blessing of the Fields

Each May, join the Museum and local schools for a procession and educational event about San Ysidro Day traditions in the Mesilla Valley.

Coming Soon! Moon Tree in Jardín de Tortugas Pueblo

A Moon Tree is a seedling traveled around the moon aboard the Orion Spacecraft and was planted in April 2025. Stay tuned for an opening date for the outdoor classroom garden!

Come and explore the richness of New Mexico agriculture with this child friendly interactive map of where our food is grown to left of the lobby.

Beyond the Farm

Learn about locals who made significant strides in agriculture while at New Mexico State University.

Early to Present Agriculture

Learn about the start of agriculture in the Main Gallery and see how working with plants evolved over time in the exhibits and with machinery and tractors in the livestock area.

Native Plants

Wander around the 47 acres of property and see many varieties of native plants.

Pecan & Pistachio Trees

Check out the pecan and pistachio trees on the South 20.

Irises

During the month of April, Enjoy the multiple varieties of irises that grow in the front of the Museum.

Green House (Closed for remodeling)

Visit the Greenhouse and purchase plants for your house or yard.

Heritage Garden

Bring a sack lunch to enjoy the beauty of the Heritage Garden and check out the native plants.

MISSION STATEMENT

The New Mexico Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum connects the present generation to the history of farming and ranching in New Mexico, inspiring a deeper appreciation and understanding of the state’s rich heritage.
The museum accomplishes this by providing exhibitions and programs that enable its users to understand and learn from the past in ways that enrich their present lives and help them shape a better future.
