The public can now explore much of the vast collections at the New Mexico Farm & Ranch Heritage Museum from their computer or other device.

The Museum, which reopened last week, has unveiled a new “Collections Portal” on its website. Farm & Ranch has more than 11,000 objects in its collection and so far, hundreds of these are listed on the site with photographs and other information.

The public can use keywords to search for specific objects and save certain objects to their “favorites.” The portal, which was created by Collections Curator Holly Radke, has everything from clothing and textiles, to tools, and fine art.

While the Museum’s curators work to have as many objects on display as possible, most of these treasures are kept safely in the facility’s enormous Collections Room where preservation is paramount.

The public may also search through the Museum’s oral history transcripts on the website where hundreds of interviews are stored.

The New Mexico Farm & Ranch Heritage Museum is located at 4100 Dripping Springs Road in Las Cruces. During this phase of partial reopening, the hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday.
